I'm right now using ext2fs partitions with NetBSD. Is ext2 different than
ELF?

A while ago the NetBSD kernel source code had ext2 filesystem support, but
for some reason was never activated for 1.3.2, so seeing the setting in the
"current" kernel source code, I recompiled my NetBSD-1.3.2 kernel to work
with that Linux file system:  Seems to work for me. But maybe that isn't what
your referring to?
