So, I successfully installed NetBSD on my 630 on an external zip drive. It
boots OK, I managed to get it into multi-user mode. I can't really do too much
though, because I don't have an easy way to get files into it--I don't have an
ethernet card for this machine yet, and the zip is the only SCSI drive I have.
As a workaround, I've used the mini-shell from the installer to copy some
files, but of course I'd like something more elegant.

I've got a 1.2G Connor Disk-Stor IDE drive in this machine, so I downloaded the
IDE test kernel, applied the MAKEDEV patch, made the appropriate device, and
tried to format a partition on the IDE drive. While "disklabel /dev/wd0" seems
to give correct information, "newfs" (I think that's the command) totally
chokes. According to disklabel, "a" is the partition that I set up for bsd, but
"newfs /dev/wd0a" keeps giving errors about losing interrupts. Am I doing
something wrong, or is IDE support just not very far along at this point?

Thanks in advance,
Chad
