Hello.

Some time ago I asked about support for the Quadra 630, and thanks to all who
responded. Since the internal IDE drive will not work under BSD, I'm wondering
if anyone has any experience with using a ZIP drive for this. Since external
SCSI is supported, I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work. I need
only a bare-bones edition (don't really need X, etc.) but even so I know ~94Mb
might be cutting it close soooo, this brings me to question two:

I'm assuming NFS works under BSD, so that I could mount a partition from the
9Gb hard drive in my PowerMac running Linux. If I can get just the basic system
on the Zip drive, then have most of the other stuff on that NFS-mounted
partition, that should work, right? I've already got the PowerMac set up to
serve NFS, and it works great linux-to-linux, but I don't have any BSD
experience, so I thought I'd ask about this one too. Slow, I know, but the
Quadra isn't going to be doing much.

Finally, in order for NFS to work, I'll need an ethernet card. I believe I
remember reading that the Asante card for the Q630 (LC-style PDS?) is
supported, correct? Is there another I should check into, or is this the one to
get (I can't imagine there are too many of them lying around anymore).

Oh, one other quick thing. IP-NAT is the name of the ip forwarding software
that I want to set up, yes? The whole reason for me resurrecting the Q630 is to
use it as an ip forwarding box.

Thanks in advance,
Chad
