I don't know if it matters or not, but my ifconfig.ae0 file looks more like:

inet 192.168.0.3 netmask 255.255.255.0

Which kernel are you using?  I had some problems with the 1.3 GENERIC
kernels, but the SLOTMAN kernels have worked really well with my Asante
ethernet cards.  The SLOTMAN kernels are at
ftp://ftp.whooppee.com/pub/ (don't remember the rest).

I think this site may be down or in a state of change right now.
The owner (Paul Goyette) mentioned something about it being down
for the next several days.
