Dear Friends of netbsd:

This last week, profiting my sejour at home (I'm currently studing in other=
 city
very far from there) and my internet conexion, I downloaded Netbsd 1.3. As
you may
know, my computer is a Classic II, a machine that Netbsd doesn't support
unless the
famous kernel ADBTEST160 is installed. So I installed the base13, comp13 and
etc13
with the AdbTest, but many problems came out. I made several questions to
the port,
got answers(thanks, by the way to Colin Wood and Bill Studenmund). I finally
understood
my problems: Adbtest was to old to work with the 1.3 release...

The problem that adbtest solves (and no one knows how...) and the other=
 kernels
do not, is that adbtest supports Classic Internal Video with minor errors,
but just
fine to work. The adbtest was developed by John P. Wittkoski=
 (jpw@netscape.com).
He has made new versions of it (the new HWDIRECT kernels) but none of them
work=7F
on the Classic II.

I'm currently running Netbsd 1.3, with the Generic#56 kernel as a serial=
 Console
with my powerbook (works fine, all the problems have desappeared...:
congratulations!) but I
would like to profit the Classic
II screen also to run X and make other things... And that's why I want to=
 demand
you a favour. I would like somebody to build an hibrid kernel for me and
others Classic
II users that are hanging around with the ancient adbtest160: a kernel that
should
have all the recent code implemented in the GENERICs ones (the only ones
that work with
the 1.3
release) and the video card management that the abdtest has. This is my
idea: rebuild
a Generic kernel using the video interface of the adbtest... I think it
should work...

I'm not very keen at hanking code: I'm a little experienced programmer and
it's been
very few time since I got in touch with Unix OS and netbsd: that's why I
would like
anybody to build this kernel and put it in ftp.netbsd.org so that me (and
others) can download
it and use it. I know I have no right to demand this..., so if you want,
just help
me and tell me all the steps I should take to build it my self.

Other question: I'm using Zterm as serial console. When I boot as multi user
(with
Zterm), netbsd says: "/dev/ttyy: device not configured", an everything
dies... Should I
configure any file to boot in
multi user mode with serial console. When I boot single user everything
works fine.
I have already edit rc.conf and set it re_configured to YES.

Other question: I would like to run X applications in my serial console. I
know there
are many Xwindow emulators: I have MacX and other (I can remenber its name)
but I
need my Classic II to have an IP adress. Where can I find an X emulator that=
 may
work without IP adress. If not possible, how can I add an IP adress to my
classic?
Where can I get an X emulator that may work with my 4bit powerbook screen?

Thank you very much!! Any reply to:
