The MAKEDEV script says:

So it'd be natural to assume that "sh MAKEDEV tty*" would work :) And at
least for mac68k, there _is_ no manpage. But anyways, to create
/dev/tty00, do "sh MAKEDEV tty0". Yes, it's weird and annoying that the
argument doesn't match the device name.

I don't know of any for Macs, but there are 128 port (and up) serial
cards for PCs and unixy workstation types. You could probably get a
thousand serial ports in a PC if you really wanted to :)
