This one is now in the FAQ, btw (at least on Puma, it'll be on
www.netbsd.org later today when I commit it).  The problem is that you're
attempting to use the color X server on a machine with the monitor set to
8-bit color, but without kernel support for color video.  Since I'm
assuming that you're using _internal_ video, this would be the problem.
There is _no_ support for internal color video at the moment, so you need
to boot in 1-bit mode.
