The caps lock key used to not work on the console(unless you used
"dt").  I submitted code to fix this that was incorporated into 
the tree sometime between 1.2 & 1.3, IIRC.  So, it's likely that
you'll have no problem with this.  It used to bother me constantly
(particularly when X still would not work on the quadras and I used
the console more often).
