I have just installed the 1.3_BETA binaries (SOURCE_DATE==nov 29) without
success. I apologize in advance for the very long post but I really hope
somebody can help me out since I would really like to move to 1.3
(particullarly since I got rid of the 1.2 files I had to make space for
1.3).

My machine is a IIvx 8Mb RAM. Using booter 1.11.1b5 and mkfs1.45.
Last spring somewhere in 1.2 it was running great and I even compiled all
of userland without problems back then (chugged for several days without
error).

At one point, the booter broke for IIvx and booter 1.9.4 (the most recent
one to work for me) did not support new kernels so I stopped following
current for quite a while. This is the first time I try catching up again.

My disk (a 1Gb DEC RZ26L) has always had corruption problems using the
ncr driver but has always been fine using sbc.

Here is what happens:

When I boot the genericsbc#51 (from the 1.3_beta directory) it goes fine
and stops at "sbc0 at obio0 :option=1<PDMA>". I hit the interrupt switch
and type trace and I get (numbers excluded):

_Debugger
_nmihand
_lev7intr
_ncr5380_sched
_ncr5380_intr
_sbc_irq_intr
_rbv_intr
_lev2intr
_ncr5380_reset_scsibus
_sbc_obio_attach
_config_attach
_obio_search
_mapply
_config_search
_obio_attach
_config_attach
_mainbus_search
_mapply
_config_search
_mainbus_attach
_config_attach
_config_troot_found
--db_more--

At this point, it hangs and I have to press the reset button.

I've tried retrograding to older genericsbc kernels but they have failed.
I have tried #51, #41, #36, #32 without success. All hang at the same
line.

I sometimes get different trace info but this seems to be when I dont
wait as long before pressing the interrupt switch. If I recall, when that
happens, one of the first lines (after the debugger lines) is
"ncr5380_reset_scsibus".

In desperation, I tried an ncr kernel (the 1.3_BETA generic#51) and was
able to boot with some errors. I did not use the system much except to
save the dmesg output (so I would not have to type it like the above
trace). I assume I would get lots of corruption using this as I always
have with ncr.

Here is what I get with this ncr#51:
