Well, this bug is not something that causes system freezes, rather it
opens you to a denial of service attack. Someone is _attacking_ your
server, causing it to hang in this way. The fact that this attack is
possible is the bug. The reason no one has tried it before is that this
bug was only recognized in the last month or so (maybe less, I've only
seen postings on current-users about it in the last week). This bug has
been fixed by Jason Thorpe in 1.3_ALPHA as of last Friday, I think.
Apparently, someone out there knows your server is vulnerable and keeps
attacking it.

There is a 1.3_ALPHA SBC kernel. It's kern_sbc.tgz in the binary/sets/
subdirectory of the NetBSD-1.3_ALPHA/mac68k directory. This version of
the SBC driver is probably no less stable than the one you are using (it
might be more stable, actually). I don't know about the EZ drive, tho,
you'd have to try it.

The latest Booter (well 1.11.1b5 at least) _should_ be able to boot the
most recent kernels on your machine. Please try one and let us know if
this isn't the case.

Since this 'land' bug is fixed in -current, I'd suggest upgrading to the
latest kernel once it's available (it'll probably GENERIC#49, I think).

I hope this helps.

Later.
