Hey, ed is the only thing I've found that will run with no /usr partition.
Very handy when the new kernel you're testing and your old one don't seem
to agree on how to number the various partitions...
You can just fire it up in single user, make the changes (the s command is
very good for this), and then continue the boot. I know ed better than I
know vi (emacs is my editor of choice however).
