A minor nit. This is a mailing list, not a FAQ. A FAQ is a list of Frequently
Asked Questions. You don't EMail to a FAQ (that's like trying to EMail to
a book; it doesn't make sense).

Which FAQ have you been looking at?

See question 9.4 of the FAQ. The only change you need to make is the one
to get the shared libraries to work.

The only special editor you need to ever mess with is vipw, which is for
editing the user database. It will do its locking thing, and then call
whatever editor you like (depending on the EDITOR environment variable).

In general, use whatever editor you like. You are, after all, the one doing
the editing. :-)
