That seems like an excessively long time, my LCIII can boot a minimal (that
is, a "System Software for This Macintosh" install, with all extensions
removed) System 7.1 in about a minute, IIRC, and as I recall, 7.1 is what
originally shipped on the IIvx, and the IIvx and LCIII are about equal
speed wise. If one uses a very trim system, Mac OS should boot pretty
quickly.

You make it sound like your IIvx is dedicated to NetBSD, so I would expect
you would be using a minimal Mac OS system.

Of course, if that is not the case, then 5 minutes may not be that
excessive, though, booting with extensions off wouldn't take nearly that
long, even with a "normal" system.
