That message means you need to edit /etc/rc.conf and change
"rc_configured=NO" to "rc_configured=YES" (and actually configure the rest
of it, if the defaults aren't what you want).

Don't know about that one... however, you can boot single user by checking
the checkbox in the booter program. You'll get a shell prompt where you
can then mount your filesystems and make sure everything looks right. A
"mount -a", should mount /usr assuming your /etc/fstab is correct. If you
do that and /usr still isn't there, there's probably still something not
quite right with fstab.
