	Two questions here:

1) Where is it freezing? In the Booter (in which case there will still be
   Mac OS windows around) or the kernel (full screen with some writing on
   it). If it is in the kernel, what has it just output before it freezes.

2) What kernel and base/etc packages are you using. Current packages should
   work fine on a Q610. I tested on a Centris 610 (i.e. the one without a
   FPU) yesterday and even it will boot into Unix. (though, many vital
   programs which need an FPU, such as fsck will make such a setup useless)
