In fact, puma is a IIcx which has been running some MacBSD variant for
quite some time.  I believe that the IIcx has been supported longer than
any other Mac with the possible exception of the Mac II.

Yep, this is what that message most likely indicates.

You'll also need to install at least a "full install for the IIcx" system
7.0 in order for NetBSD to boot.  Current booters will no longer boot on
system 6.

You might want to take a look at the FAQ if you have problems installing
NetBSD 1.2.1 (which I would recommend right at the moment).  You can find
