Whoops! Sorry, it was late. I meant rgb not color. Perhaps the linux-ppc
versions are stored little-endian so they are compatible with XFree86?

I downloaded the Mar5 package from macbsd.com. I guess that's old and I
should be using the package found on netbsd.org.
