I've been running a custom kernel with Allens new patches to the esp
driver.

It's running very well, and it has one interesting (side?) effect:
the clock seems to run correctly even while running large builds
simultaneously with a PPP connection.

I have not timed it systematically, but there is no noticeable
slow-down of the clock as I was used to see.
