Sounds to me like you're getting bit by the NCR SCSI driver.  You should
try to find a GENERICSBC kernel of the same vintage (ie, 1.2.1) and see if
that works any better.  GENERICSBC is the same kernel, except for the fact
that it contains a different SCSI driver.  Some disks don't work well with
the NCR driver, others don't work well with SBC, but most drives will work
OK with one or the other.

Don't worry about that one - it says that NetBSD doesn't trust itself to
update the Mac's Real-Time Clock during shutdown.  Basically, we don't
keep very good time due to the Mac's interrupt structure, so it's best if
we don't make the MacOS rely on our concept of time.

Yep - basically, those are times when the vm buffer cache gets flushed to
the disk.  And that's when the fun starts...  Try the SBC kernel.
