I'd suggest getting whatever Asante model is appropriate for your machine
(probably a MacCon-i something or other).  Asante cards seem to work
pretty reliably under NetBSD.  Someone else might have more experience
with other cards, tho.

Although Quantums sometimes seem to interact poorly with the
machine-independent part of the ncr5380 driver, you can still get fairly
big ones fairly cheaply.  A 3 GB Fireball (internal) costs about $350
(maybe less) from ProDirect.
