Actually, I did install everything from the etc package, including the
/var stuff :)

Actually, by using the advice of re-untarring it in / with the --unlink
option, it worked perfectly...now fsck doesn't need the extra "/" argument

The syslogd error is still erroring :) I did install the /var stuff from
the etc package...but it still doesn't work...
