Sounds like a good idea to me :) The #ifdefs might make the code too ugly
in some cases though, so perhaps patches would be best in those cases. The
AV video thing is already #ifdef'ed, BTW, although not in a form that can
be enabled by an "options WHATEVER" line in your kernel config... there's
an "#ifdef notyet" in locore.s, just change it to "#if 1" to enable it.
