I'd suggest you keep the user code version close to the kernel version.
I've found the April snapshot very stable. I expect the June one is also.
That should keep down the number of random errors.

On older macs, folks have needed to use an SBC kernel with Zip's,
and I think with Jaz drives too. You don't need to worry about that as
the Q700 uses the esp driver (for the ncr 53c9x chips). I think it
runs fine.
