Hmm.. You must have tried MacX, which is a real PIECE...If you know what I 
mean!  Anyway, we use eXodus by WhitePine here and have been using it for
the past several years with good success.. Checkout http://www.wpine.com
for more info.. I believe they have demo versions.  P.S. I'm running eXodus
on a PowerMac 8500/180 and have run it without problems on models down to a
Quadra 700 (my first Mac here at work)
