It is the MI one.  The 53c96 is a more advanced chip than the 5380.  It
can (unattended) negotiate a number of SCSI transactions that have to
be explicitly handled with the 5380.

I think the 660AV and 840AV use the 53c94 and I think that the PowerMacs
use the 53c94 and MESH.  MESH is very similar to the 53c94 and both are
similar to the 53c96.  The esp driver handles the 53c94, 53c96, and
several other, similar, chips--the esp100 (Emulex SCSI Processor, I
think), etc.
