I just installed xntpd, and in the FAQ it indicates that tickadj should 
be used. Are any values suggested to use with tickadj?
I tried tickadj -A, and got this:
root@scdesantis# tickadj -A
KERNEL tick = 16666 usec (from _tick kernel variable)
PRESET tick = 10000 usec
KERNEL tickadj = 66 usec (from _tickadj kernel variable)
PRESET tickadj = 5 usec
KERNEL hz = 100
calculated hz = 100.00 Hz
recommended value of tickadj = 5 us
tickadj: open /dev/kmem: Operation not permitted
