Isn't it possible to simply compile everything (operating system and gcc)
in integer mode (i.e., using FP libraries). This is why the MacOS runs on
machines without floating point coprocessors (I'm reluctant to plunk down
$150 for a 68040 processor).  If and when we upgrade the CPU, we could
rebuild the system to take advantage of it...
