Try ftp.macbsd.com instead.  I have some notes for an as-yet-unwritten 
HOWTO located at:

ftp://ftp.macbsd.com/pub/NetBSD/docs/notes/  (I think that's right)

plus there may be a real Serial Console HOWTO located somewhere under
ftp.macbsd.com/pub/NetBSD/
