I recently booted my Q840AV.
Partitioned 200MB root/user 40MB swap
used mkfs 1.4 and Intaller1.1 to make the fs and install binaries
installed Generic#26 kernel from
ftp://gatekeeper.dec.com/pub/BSD/NetBSD/arch/mac68k/kernels/
removed all extensions, set monitors to B&W and zapped the PRAM
on bootup I was requested for the path and then the terminal type. In my
case either "vt100" or "mac" have the same effect, the prompt jumps up
twenty spaces, but it is in the bourne shell.
good luck
