I'm >>> VERY <<< close. In fact, you could run Color X on a IIvx just fine
with what I have now. In fact, I have run Color X and it looks just spiffy.
However, there are a few things that have to get done before I make even an
alpha quality release:

1. Debug the gamma code - this is done purely in software and will be shared
   amongst different hardware types.

2. I thought the IIvx 16 bit mode would be fairly simple but there is a slight
hang-up I'm working out at the moment. I expect to get this done in the next
day or so.

3. Pull the IIvx hardware code out into it's own C file.

4. Add Quadra/QuadraAV and IIsi/IIci hardware code files

5. Wait for the 1.2.1 kernel release so Scott can fix a bizarre memory mapping
bug that causes additions to the kernel to cause random SCSI phase errors.
In addition, I understand that the SONIC driver will be in that release
so more functionality will be in the kernel as well.

I expect to have most of this done "soon". I wanted to put out a IIvx-only
kernel the minute I had the IIvx stuff done but that kernel was too rough
around the edges to release and wouldn't have been very worth-while for most
of the NetBSD community. Therefore, I have opted to make the kernel a little
more general and spend a little more time on it. It was a sacrifice of glory
for more polished code but I think it will be worth it in the end.

I'm not sure when the release will be now. I was being optimistic when I
thought by this weekend but it may be later. I'm balancing between this and
grad work :)

Basic answer: "Real soon now"

As always: Thanks for your patience.
