Hi all,

I'm trying to use the "dump" command and am getting a "bad magic

sblock" error of some sort. My tape drive is a DC-6250 Sankyo

(250Mb) which is identified as "st0" when I boot up.

The command syntax I'm using is:

dump -0u -c -f /dev/st0 /

I've substituted nrst0 and rst0 for st0, but the nrst0 device

does not exist, and rst0 doesn't work, just as st0 doesn't work.

One day I seemed to get a backup when I did:

mt -f /dev/rst0 rewind

tar -cvp -f /dev/rst0 /

If someone could offer some guidance here, I'd be obliged. I've

got several weeks of configuring into my new installation and need

to assure I have a good backup.

Thanks in advance,

(please cc me at the address below if possible)
