as far as i am concerned netbsd is much more stable than macos...the only 
times i ever drop into the debugger is when i try to use hfs-utils of any 
version, patched or unpatched. my machine is a quadra 650, so this seems 
to be related to your hardware, not to netbsd, which i think is just great.
