Is this the first time you've tried a recent GENERIC kernel on your
system?  Are you using the older distribution set, or have you ftp'd
the latest snapshot?  Sounds to me like the "recent kernel vs. older
distribution" problem, in which case you need to update those binaries
with the files provided on ftp.macbsd.com.
