I discovered a little utility that will prevent the ejection of removable
media at shutdown. This might help some folks. It's called No Eject and
it's available from
<URL:http://hyperarchive.lcs.mit.edu/HyperArchive/Archive/disk/no-eject-11.hqx>.

Here's the abstract.

This little utility disables the ejection of removable SCSI drive
media on restart or shutdown. So all your CDs and removable drive
cartriges should stay in their drives.

Tested with Apple's and FWB's CD-ROM driver and an Apple CD-ROM
drive (should work with others too).

FREEWARE

Changes for Version 1.1:

-it is no longer required to hit a button to go on (Great if you put
NoEject into the Startup Items folder)

Iomega's drivers have a similar feature documented in the manual, if you
hold down the option key at shutdown, the volume will not be ejected.
