.. Is it possible that Erik's Q610 has a 68LC040 instead of a 68040? It
.. does sound like the FPE bug.

Just for the record, my name is Erik and I'm not the person who started
this thread, but I do have a Quadra 610 with a full 68040, and it is
running NetBSD-current.

If the machine in question has no non-standard hardware (which has been
said by the owner, who also verified that he had the full 68040 version of
the Q610) and if the kernel and user land software is built from current
sources, it should run unless there is a hardware error (RAM or other).

However, I never tried to install the official 1.2 release on my Q610,
but instead I built a set of installation files on my Mac IIcx for use
on the Q610. If the user with the problem has installed base12, etc. and
not a newer snapshot, I'd recommend to try the new snapshot that was
mentioned during the last couple of days on this mailing list.

If the kernel has started init and init dies with a signal 10, I would
say that the kernel has booted, but that the following processes have
problems.

If needed, I can make a copy of init, the kernel, and possibly other
selected parts of the system from my working Q610 and tar it together
and send it to the person with the problem. That'll take 1-2 days as
my Q610 is at home.
