I think you're right.  Someone should step up to maintain the booter...
I'll see if I can dig up the sources that I used for the 1.9.5 version
that I built.  I'll up the version to 1.9.6 and put it up with source
for ftp.  I put it up for testing, but never really released it since
someone else was technically working on version 2.0.

The main (only?) change I made was to support booting with larger
kernels--it dynamically sizes RAM to account for larger symbol tables.
Older versions of the booter just assumed that the symbol table would be
120K or less...  Many post-1.2 kernels do exceed this size.
