Hi all, I just started trying out MacBSD on my Q8409AV since the latest
info sez it should be feasible. I d/l'ed the following:

booter (1.9.4)
mkfs
NetBSD/Mac Install utility
comp12
etc12
base12
games12
text12
man12
netbsd12
misc12

Then I used FWB's HDT 1.7.5 to initialze my original 230MB HD into an
Apple_UNIX_SVR2 partition, with an 80MB A/UX swap partition.

>From there, I ran mkfs, then the NetBSD/Mac install utility. I selected all
of the archives (it took quite awhile to unpack) & selected 'build devices'
from the file menu.

Then I ran the booter. In Booting... options, I selected:
single-user
extra debug info
don't warn about untested platform
kernel name as netbsd
partition name as Root (named that via FWB)
auto-size RAM.

Then I tried to boot & it went well in the booter's window. Here's what it
gave:

Logging to bootlog
Booting...MID_M68K executable: entry 0x3356.
768516+57516+99064+45588+48244

Set _boothowto to 0x2.
  Bye-bye...
So I sez to him... The real way
that it should be done is to...

Set _mac68k_vrsrc_cnt to 0.

Then it went to what I'm assuming would be the root login screen/info.
Everything looked okay, but right after it sensed NuBus, it said
"arghh, no boot device!!!!"

I thought that it may have gotten confuzzled with the swap partition, so I
deleted that & added its size to Root's partition. Same error. Then I tried
using sd0a for partition name. Same error. I'm sure that I'm missing
something simple since it's getting so far & I know it can read the
partition if it's getting that far.

Any help is greatly appreciated

TIA

ps if you see this more than once, it's because I posted it to newsgroup,
AltMacOs mailing list & the 'official' NetBSD/Mac port mailing list.
