hi folks. has anyone here got popper working (for eudora clients?)

this is the session i recorded for anyone who might know what's going
wrong:

macaroni:/users/jon/> telnet macaroni 110
Trying 146.141.26.180...
Connected to macaroni.cs.wits.ac.za.
Escape character is '^]'.
+OK QPOP (version 2.2) at macaroni.cs.wits.ac.za starting.
user jon
+OK Password required for jon.
pass ********
-ERR System error, can't open temporary file, do you own it?
+OK Pop server at macaroni.cs.wits.ac.za signing off.
Connection closed by foreign host.
macaroni:/users/jon/>

i checked the access privileges but all the directories and files
involved are at their default correct ownerships that work with pine and
others. As i understand it from the man page, popper acts as the user who
logs in, so it's not surprising that it's got access priv problems, but i
can't see where theu're coming in. All the files it needs to see have the
right privs (or so i think).

so i guess what i need to know is:

- has anyone got it working?
- if you had this problem, how did you deal with it?

TIA!
