Ditto, except that the most recent versions (which like to use a lock on
the sd's, I believe), don't seem to like modern kernels (I'm using the
older of the two color video test kernels)

Ironically, xhfs works fine for me (between two unix volumes, or a
macintosh 1.44 floppy image), just won't open hfs partitions.. however
the X part of it works great.. no special compiling flags.. but I *seem*
to recall I had to rather extensively tell it where /usr/X11R6/lib, etc..
were.. (I could be wrong.. have been compiling a lot of stuff recently)

If you're really just starting out.. a great place to start is:
ftp://ftp.uni-regensburg.de/pub/NetBSD-Amiga/contrib/ (I think).. whoever
pointed this site out to me.. thanks! The amiga files are
binary-compatible (the programs run fine..) and installation of packages
from this archive couldn't be easier:
cd /
tar zxvpf foobar-216.tar.gz
sh /usr/local/foobar-216/install/install.sh
and all of the libs, includes, binaries, and man pages get installed for you!
Happy BSDing!
