Hi,
I installed "less" "as uploaded" from
ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/linux/slackware_source/a/less/less-290.tar.gz

./configure
make
make install             and it works flawlessly.


For those interested "less" is like "more" but more, it is 
 especialy more convinient when you have 
 "setenv  PAGER   less"
 in your .cshrc or .tcshrc files, then, You can use the arrow keys
 to travel forward and backward when reading man pages (you can
 also search, jump screens, and many more goodies).
 (type "h" while in "less" to get help).

       Less  is  a  program similar to more (1), but which allows
       backward movement in the file as well as forward movement.
       Also,  less  does  not  have to read the entire input file
       before starting, so with large input files  it  starts  up
       faster  than  text editors like vi (1).  Less uses termcap
       (or terminfo on some systems), so it can run on a  variety
       of  terminals.
