Hi,

Just a few questions to see if we can figure this out.
Which version of the installer are you using?? Is the Quantum 365S the only
SCSI device attached?? How many partitions on this hard drive?? Which
partitioning software did you use??

The mkfs utility is less picky about which partitions it will operate on.
It only requires that it be a partition of type "Apple_UNIX_SVR2". The
installer requires that you have a partition with the proper flags set for
mounting as a root drive. This is usually specified in the formatting
utility by specifying it as an "A/UX Root" or "A/UX Root&Usr slice 0"
partition.

I'm still running System 7.1, but if we can't figure anything else out,
I'll see if I can hook up with a system 7.5 machine and test it out.

p.s. The last installer utility released was version 1.1. It is somewhat
better(though not perfect) about giving useful error messages.
You can find it on ftp.macbsd.com in /pub/NetBSD/installer.
Hmmm. It appears Allen's machine is not back up yet. I'll
send you an alternate path in a moment.
