We had talked about this a while ago.  I had asked the same question.  
It is better to compile your own stuff simply because of the options for
compiling and you also have to consider that any binary distribution will
probably have to have FPU-less lib cause some people don't have an FPU. 
Too much stuff to include in a single distribution.
