I have a mac IIcx with a variety of cards, when my Asante ethernet car is
in there I see the same as:

with just my "Macintosh Display Card" - a nonaccelerated apple 24-bit
card, when it probes the grf0, the screen goes grey, and I see nothing
more.. 

with just the "Toby Frame Buffer" in there, things work smoothly..

but it was set to monochrome (B&W) when you booted
