I just picked up the source changes that went in last nite or early this
morning. It acts the same way on the Performa-550. I've tried both the
old B&W Xmacbsd and the newer Color version from puma. In all cases I'm
booting into NetBSD with 1-bit mode since the Color support isn't there
yet for internal video. The "fatal connection broken" is the old error
message I used to get when booting NetBSD with something other than 1-bit
mode, so I suspect there's some communication failure/mis-match between
the newer Kernels and Xmacbsd.

Yes, that's where it shows up on my system.
