I know this isn't exactly the best forum, but I'm not really sure what
is. I'm working on a "secure" shell (secure in quotes because nothing
really is 100% secure) that requires three additional passwords in order
to access users' accounts, this in response to a high incidence of
students breaking into other students' accounts and the fact that the
password file is readable by anyone.

The problem is, I can't figure out how to get Telnet to stop echoing
characters. That's the one thing that's keeping me from starting to use
it and letting my friends use it (what enemies?). Any suggestions?

TIA,
