no. I did the devices first. I follwed the install instructions perfectly.
if the sd0 wasn't installed surely it'd not even get to read etc/rc, which
it does get to. It hangs with no sd0 *after* running etc/rc.

it starts the daemons itself. i didn't tell it to. But i'll try it in
single-user mode and tell you what happens.
