John has explicitly stated that his kernels will not work on the IIci
(or II, IIx, IIcx, or SE/30). That's one reason why his changes have
not been adopted into the std. source tree.

I think that's true. It works on the LCIII, but the LCII and LCIII seem
to be somewhat different.
