Yeah, same thing happened to me...  I have an XCEED SE/30 and the X
server complained that it failed to open /dev/grf2 (which did not
exist), then it showed a blank screen on the internal display after I
made the device file /dev/grf2 by hand.

I switched back to the old server.  I have the entire X11R6 source on
a CD-ROM, so it's a matter of patch availability, Allen... ;-)
