I've had to compile Apache 1.0 on three machines so far. The first
machine I did it on was a Sparc 20 running Solaris 2.4. It worked pretty
well, no complaints. The second was a 20 running 4.13. It bitched, whined,
pissed an moaned, ultimately not working. I think I need to re-install
gcc, but that's for another mailing list. . . .

The third was MacBSD. I was pleased and somewhat surprised to type
"make" and have it compile out of the box. I now have a very functional
httpd running on my IIci. I don't pretend to understand everything that
brought netbsd to this point--I'm sure it has many long nights and some
good pizza stains to show for it; however, it was a joy for this to work so
easily. That's the way UN*X should be, at least from the standpoint of
the end user.

Congratulations to those who made it possible!
