Well, you can always use the Mac conventions for specifying absolute or
relative paths.  For example, :folder1:folder2:file is relative to the
current default, while ::folder3:file will look for file within folder3
which is contained in the same folder as the current default, etc.  (ie, ::
will "back up" one level in the folder hierarchy).
